Is SmartScout accurate? What SmartScout claims
SmartScout says its estimates are within 80 to 90 percent on most brands and products. That claim comes from SmartScout's accuracy page, written by its founder, and the page names no sample size or test design. SmartScout's Terms call its sales and revenue figures estimates only, not sourced from or endorsed by Amazon.

Amazon publishes a Best Sellers Rank (BSR), not unit sales. Amazon says it calculates the rank from sales volume, with recent sales counting more than older ones, and not from page views or reviews. SmartScout says its own estimate starts from that rank and the product's category, then cross-checks against external data and direct sales signals from large brands.
SmartScout's Sales Estimator takes a category and a BSR and returns estimated monthly sales. It is listed on every plan, from Basic at $29 a month on the Yearly view, charged as $348 for the year, or $49 a month on the Monthly view, as read on October 29, 2026.
SmartScout's accuracy page says about 5 percent of Amazon products have no rank and so get no estimate. The estimator's button opens a sign-in page, so using it needs an account. The SmartScout review lists every plan.
Where the accuracy claims disagree
| Source | What it claims | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| SmartScout accuracy page | Within 80 to 90 percent on most brands and products | Sales rank and category; no sample size named |
| SmartScout comparison page | 95 percent average accuracy for SmartScout | A table on its own site that rates rivals lower |
| Jungle Scout study, May 2019 | Ranks Jungle Scout first among the tools it tested | Jungle Scout's own study; SmartScout is not on its list |
| SmartScout Terms of Use | Figures are estimates only; directional intelligence | Not sourced from or endorsed by Amazon |
SmartScout says its estimates are within 80 to 90 percent on most brands and products, a figure its own comparison page raises to 95 percent, while Jungle Scout's 2019 study ranks Jungle Scout first among the tools it tested; each is a vendor claim with its own sample, so check a few products against your own Seller Central numbers.
SmartScout's comparison page also shows one product where its estimate was 16 units and $5,529 for 30 days, against 14 orders and $5,385 in Seller Central. SmartScout chose and reported that product, so it shows nothing about other products. SmartScout vs Jungle Scout compares the two tools on plans and prices.
How to check SmartScout numbers against your own
- For products you already sell, set SmartScout's estimated monthly sales beside the orders in your Seller Central reports.
- For any listing, run a second estimator on the same product. Helium 10 lists a free Amazon Sales Estimator, and AMZScout's free calculator takes a country, a category and a BSR.
- Read Amazon's own signal on the listing: Amazon says a listing may show a rough range of units bought in the past month.
A first-time private label seller sizing one product idea has no Seller Central sales for it, so steps 2 and 3 are that seller's check: two estimators and Amazon's range on the same competing listings. Run step 1 inside SmartScout's 7-day money-back window.
For a second figure, pick Helium 10's free estimator; Helium 10 says it uses keyword rankings, search volumes and conversion rates, and that is Helium 10's description of its own tool. How to find Amazon sales of a product walks through the whole job.
