What is SmartScout? A research tool built around Amazon brands
SmartScout is a subscription web application for people who sell on Amazon or advise those who do. Instead of showing one product at a time, it connects four layers of the marketplace: brands, sellers, subcategories and products. Search a brand and you see every seller that carries it. Search a seller and you see every brand it carries. Open a subcategory and you see the products and brands inside it.
The vendor's home and features pages, last read October 29, 2026, describe this connected view as the main difference from tools that start with a single listing.
The questions it is built to answer
- Which brands could I resell? Filter brands by revenue, number of FBA sellers, Amazon's own presence and the share held by one seller.
- Which niche is worth entering? Browse subcategories by revenue, competition and growth, then open the products inside one.
- Who is selling in my category? List sellers by revenue, location and brand portfolio.
- What traffic and keywords surround a product? Keyword research starts on the first plan, unlimited keyword tracking on the second, and ad research is an add-on.
- Is this supplier list worth ordering from? The UPC Scanner matches an uploaded list against Amazon's catalog and highlights opportunities.
Where the numbers come from
SmartScout's pages list prices, reviews, offers, sales rank and buy box history among the data it tracks, and it builds models on top. Revenue and unit figures are estimates. The vendor's sales estimator page says the figure starts from Best Sellers Rank and category, is cross-checked against other data and Amazon's bought-in-the-past-month figures, and should be read as a directional starting point to validate before you commit.
The vendor's terms add that SmartScout does not aggregate customers' own business data for use by anyone else. Amazon does not publish unit sales, so no research tool can show exact sales for another seller's listing.
Who it is for and how plans gate the data
- Wholesale and online arbitrage sellers: brand filters and price list matching.
- Private label sellers: subcategory research and competitor product lists.
- Brand owners: category share, competitor revenue estimates and the sellers listing a brand's products.
- Agencies: the agency page presents seller and brand lists as a way to find clients.
- Plan levels: the pricing page ties product and keyword data to the first plan, brand data to the second and seller and subcategory data to the third. See SmartScout pricing for how the plans are built.
What SmartScout is not
SmartScout is a research product, so it sits beside Seller Central rather than replacing it, and Amazon, not SmartScout, reports your own orders and fees. Several features sit behind higher plans or add-ons that go through the sales team. If your question is how to find one first product rather than a market, a product-first tool or Amazon's Product Opportunity Explorer may be a simpler start, and the best research tools guide sorts them by stage.
Where to go next
If you already know the tool suits your model, read the SmartScout review for strengths and limits. If you are still learning how a niche is judged, how to research an Amazon product niche walks through the steps with or without a paid tool.
