The best Amazon brand research tools are SmartScout for a wholesale seller or agency that starts from brands, Amazon Brand Analytics for the owner of a registered brand, and Jungle Scout's Brand Owner plan or Helium 10's Market Tracker for an owner who follows a few rivals.

SmartScout's brand data starts on Essentials: $119 a month on the Monthly view, or $99 a month on the Yearly view, paid as $1,188 for the year at checkout, as read on October 29, 2026. A wholesale seller with a list of brands needs to know which sell well on Amazon, who already sells them and whether the brand sells direct. SmartScout's Brands Database filters brands by estimated monthly revenue, Amazon in-stock rate (how often Amazon itself has the item), number of FBA sellers and dominant seller (a seller holding a large share of a brand's revenue), and Brand Sellers lists the sellers under a brand.

The filters narrow the list to brands worth contacting. Whether a brand sells direct is the brand's answer; SmartScout reads a single dominant seller as usually private label or exclusive, which is its reading, not an Amazon rule.

Brand Analytics needs a Professional selling account, $39.99 a month plus selling fees, and a Brand Representative role on a brand enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry. A Brand Representative is a person with a role on an enrolled brand, and Amazon describes Brand Registry as a free program that helps you protect and grow your brand.

Top Search Terms lists the keywords shoppers use with the top three products, categories and brands for each, and Search Query Performance shows query volume, impressions, clicks, cart adds and purchases for your brand. It does not show another seller's unit sales, so a wholesale seller who owns no brand cannot use it for sourcing.

Brand research for agencies building client lists

An agency works from SmartScout Custom Segments, markets defined from brands, ASINs, subcategories and keywords: 1 on Basic, 5 on Essentials, 10 on Business and 50 on Enterprise. Business, $299 a month on the Monthly view or $239 a month on the Yearly view, adds seller and subcategory data and Brand Reports, a downloadable report on one brand.

SmartScout's plan grid lists spreadsheet exports from Business at 20,000 rows a month, while product pages describe exporting from the brand and product databases without naming a plan, so we follow the grid.
